Industry Associations Meet in the Windy City

The TPI Board of Directors and the SBCA Executive group met in Chicago, Illinois, at the Alpine ITW facility on June 28th for their annual meeting. The seven TPI Board members and nine SBCA Executives discussed various projects the two associations are working on and agreed on strategies to continue joint work efforts that will benefit the industry. Some of the topics discussed included:

  • Association Missions – The participants discussed the different missions of the two associations and determined how best to work together to achieve these missions. 

  • BCSI – The group agreed on the importance of BCSI for engineers, component manufacturers, and framers and talked about ways to bring all these users together to update the guide and possibly develop new formats to get this critical information to those that need it.

  • Building Codes- Both associations have committed resources and will work together to stay abreast of all industry-related provisions in state and model codes to ensure the regulations are appropriate.

  • Industry Testing - TPI presented several possible industry testing projects for the associations to review that came up during the TPI 1 update process.
