Jay P. Jones, P.E. appointed Executive Director of TPI as Mike Cassidy retires

The Truss Plate Institute, Inc. (TPI) announced today that its Board of Directors appointed Jay P. Jones, P.E. as the association’s new Executive Director effective November 1, 2019. Jones will be replacing Mike Cassidy who is retiring after 15 years as the Executive Director of TPI.

Since joining TPI in 2008 as the Director of Technical Programs he has directed all the Institutes technical activities including the maintenance and update of the industry standard, ANSI/TPI 1. Before his employment with TPI, Jones worked within the component industry as a structural engineer for a number of the TPI member companies as well as running his own consulting structural engineering practice focused on wood truss construction. Jones is currently a licensed professional engineer in the state of Maryland and is a graduate of Montana State University.

Jones noted his enthusiasm for continuing his work with TPI in his expanded role as Executive Director. “It’s an exciting time in the industry and I am looking forward to my expanded role with TPI. Being able to continue building on TPI’s foundation of sound engineering while moving forward on some of the newer TPI initiatives will be extremely rewarding. I am confident that my experience will continue to be beneficial to TPI and the industry.”

Speaking on behalf of the TPI Board, TPI President Wayne Masengill said, “I am pleased that Jay has accepted the Executive Director position, and he has the unanimous support of our Board. His background and experience in engineering, standards development, and technical program oversight is extremely valuable to TPI. We are looking to Jay to lead us into the future and make sure the interests of TPI and its customers are well represented.”
