Standards Development
The Truss Plate Institute, through Project Committees representing a cross section of the industry, establishes methods of design and construction for metal plate connected wood trusses in accordance with the American National Standards Institute's (ANSI) accredited consensus procedures for the coordination and development of American National Standards.
TPI's written procedures, "Project Committee Method to Achieve Consensus" (PCMAC), as approved by ANSI, ensure that TPI standards have achieved general recognition, agreement, and acceptance for use as a national voluntary standard.
Project Committees
TPI Project Committees are made up of a balanced group of Users, Producers, and General Interest participants from the Industry. TPI Project Committees and their scopes of consensus work are:
TPI 1 Project Committee - revise/reaffirm ANSI/TPI 1 "National Design Standard for Metal Plate Connected Wood Truss Construction".....more info
TPI 2 Project Committee - develop a new standard building on the original ANSI/TPI 2-1995, "Standard for Testing Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses".....more info
TPI 3 Project Committee - propose a new American National Standard, "Design Specification for Bracing Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses" (revision and expansion of DSB-89). - Pending
Public Review
Public comment is solicited on all proposed draft standards to ensure that the views of all interested parties have been given full consideration. Formal public review and comment periods are announced to ANSI and published in ANSI's Standards Action.
