The Truss Plate Institute opens the 3rd Public Review & Comment period for the draft BSR/TPI 1-200X, (revision to ANSI/TPI 1-2002) "National Design Standard for Metal Plate Connected Wood Truss Construction" standard.

The Truss Plate Institute (TPI) announces the opening of the 3rd Public Review & Comment period for the draft BSR/TPI 1-200X (revision to ANSI/TPI 1-2002) “National Design Standard for Metal Plate Connected Wood Truss Construction”. The 3rd Public Review & Comment period opened October 26, 2007, as announced in ANSI’s Standards Action publication (published 10/26/07), and will close December 10, 2007.

The 3rd Public Review is a follow up to previous Public Reviews. As a result of the previous Public Reviews and Project Committee action there were sections of the proposed revisions that received substantive changes. This 3rd Public Review is limited to only those individual sections with substantive changes. Further information on the material being reviewed is available at TPI’s web site (www.tpinst.org/my_TPI1PC.htm ).

Comments are being solicited to ensure that the views of all interested parties have been given full consideration. The draft BSR/TPI 1-200X establishes minimum requirements for the design and construction of metal plate connected wood trusses. The standard describes the materials used in a truss, both lumber and steel, and design procedures for truss members and joints. Responsibilities, methods for evaluating the metal connector plates, and manufacturing quality assurance are also contained in the standard.

Those wishing to participate in the 3rd Public Review of the draft BSR/TPI 1-200X standard should visit TPI’s web site (www.tpinst.org/my_TPI1PC.htm ) or contact the Truss Plate Institute at 703-683-1010 for further information.

Copies of the specific sections of the draft BSR/TPI 1-200X being reviewed are available as a free download at TPI’s web site www.tpinst.org/my_TPI1PC.htm . Printed copies for the full draft are available for $40 each plus tax, shipping & handling (prepaid by check or money order) and can be ordered directly from TPI at 218 North Lee Street, Suite 312; Alexandria, VA 22314.
